An Interview is a place where you have show talents and get placed in a smart way. So before you attend an interview know the do’s and don’ts in an interview.

Do’s In an Interview

> Dress like a professional student.

> Know the location of the interview to be held and be reach the place earlier.

> Know about the companies.

> Have an extra resume copy with you.

> Greet the receptionist and interviewer.

> Fill the application neatly.

> Shake hands firmly.

> Wait till they offer a chair.

> Have eye contact with the interviewer.

> Talk politely.

> Avoid poor language, slang and pause words like “uh”, “hmm”, etc.

> Listen the question carefully, and ask them to repeat the question if you need time to prepare answer or can’t understand the question.

> Ask about the job, company when you get chance.

> Try to know about the interviewers.

> Send a thank you letter to the interviewer if possibe.
Don’ts in an Interview

> Don’t show over confidence.

> Don’t show lack of interest in the interview.

> Don’t tell negatively about your past employers, institutions or company.

> Don’t be late to the interview.

> Don’t lie to the interviewer.

> Don’t take notes.

> Don’t smoke before you attend the interview and don’t smoke even if you are offered during the interview.

> Don’t use chewing gum.

>Don’t assume that a female interviewer is “Mrs.” or “Miss.” Address her as “Ms.” unless told otherwise. (If she has a Ph.D. or other doctoral degree or medical degree, use “Dr. [lastname]” just as you would with a male interviewer. Marital status of anyone, male or female, is irrelevant to the purpose of the interview.

>Don’t treat the interview casually, as if you are just shopping around or doing the interview for practice.

> Don’t use mobiles, better to swtich off or set in silent mode.

> Don’t joke during interview.

> Don’t answer the question in single word like “yes or no”, give clear explanation if possible.

> Don’t talk personally or about family.

> Don’t ask about salary before you are placed.
